Aikido for teens and adults
Aikido is a martial system that allows you to control an opponent without causing harm. It is one of the most humane martial arts, while also requiring great control of one's own ego and psyche.
Clothing and equipment
Training is done barefoot. A long-sleeve shirt and sweatpants are recommended. A kimono is not required for the first 3 months. Bring a bottle of water with you.
注 Important
Jewelry (rings, earrings, necklaces, etc.) is not allowed on the tatami for safety reasons. Food, drinks, and mobile phones are not permitted on the tatami.
Etiquette and basic rules
When entering the dódžó and stepping onto the tatami, we bow toward the portrait of the founder of aikido. Japanese expressions of gratitude and respect are used at the beginning and end of each training session.
If someone leaves the tatami early, they must inform the instructor for safety reasons – the instructor is responsible for everything happening on the tatami.
Sitting with your back to the kamiza (portrait of the founder) or with your legs stretched out is not permitted.
Falls and safety
Training includes learning to fall on soft mats, with virtually no risk of injury. Falls are fundamental to aikido, and you will gradually learn to fall safely and naturally.
